A Mill warehouse turned into an office, The Yellow HQ celebrates creativity & conversation. The existing built form of the old warehouse allowed for several possibilities for creating an open plan layout with surgical additions made to the building. The building is a 70 year old warehouse constructed as a load bearing structure with a pitched roof and a shop floor layout. Being an old building, the structure was to be strengthened in certain areas and the design additions made to the project had to intermingle within the existing grid.

The intention of the design was to create minimal impact on the structure whilst maintaining the identity of the old elements in the building. The shop floor layout of the existing structure is a simple rectilinear form which became a playground for several ideas. An axis connecting both ends pivots the rectilinear grid around which the spaces start to plug onto and create a simple channel of movement across the whole space.

With no strict designated programs, the aim of the design was to overlap pools of spaces into each other resulting in an intermingled work flow. The layout breaks out of the rectilinear form with 2 straight axes cutting across the space with Yellow objects interspersed across the space, forming the core circulation of the office. The design enables its inhabitants to weave new stories and facilitates the creative energy of the office.

The large double heighted area becomes the main workspace and the work tables are spread out in different forms facing different directions creating a dynamic movement resulting in chance encounters and allowing for conversations between different teams. The programmatic organization of the office is such that the spaces reveal themselves with the signature yellow objects interspersed across the office as one walks on the main circulation axis

Most of the built volumes are tucked under the mezzanine area with hybrid meeting rooms and recreational spaces. The meeting rooms are designed in a manner that allows for a conference meeting or private team meetings as well.

The Yellow Office celebrates Creativity and Dialogue. It aspires to create a playground of ideas for creative professionals to work and ideate. The design leaves room for more creative expression by everyone who inhabits the office and is a space that constantly keeps growing.
